Health and Nutrition in the times of Corona

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, or COVID-19, Drs. Sean Breckley and Lan Vo, including Team 32 Dental in Kennesaw, GA, are only seeing patients at the practice at this time for dental emergencies. This decision has been made to help prevent further spread of this virus and keep everyone in our community healthy and safe. Our team thanks you for your understanding during this difficult time, and we look forward to seeing you soon!

In the meantime, we want to provide effective healthy and nutrition tips to improve your health while staying home and practicing social distancing as we try to flatten the curve of Coronavirus in our state and country. Below are several recommendations available to help you in staying healthy during this time and maintaining a proper diet for a healthier, stronger body!

  • The importance of hand washing – washing your hands is one of the most effective ways to protect yourself against the Coronavirus and other bacteria that may make you sick. By regularly washing your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds throughout the day, you can dramatically reduce your risk of contracting this and other viruses that impact your health.
  • Maintain social distancing – in order to protect yourself from others, it is a good idea to maintain proper social distance. By keeping at least six feet apart from others, you are curbing your risk of infection from someone who may be sick, especially those who are coughing or sneezing. These actions cause tiny particles of liquid droplets that may contain the virus to spray into the air. If you are not far enough away, you could breathe in these droplets and become infected with someone who has the disease.
  • Pay close attention and avoid touching the face – the hands come in contact with many germs throughout the day. When the virus is on the hands, it can easily enter into the body from the eyes, nose, or mouth when one touches the face. It is important that you avoid touching your face unless you have just washed your hands for at least 20 seconds. This should especially be done when removing contact lenses or applying makeup to the face.
  • Be responsible for your respiratory hygiene – make sure that you and those around you are covering their mouth and nose when they sneeze or cough, or use their elbow to protect others around them. Any tissues or napkins used to sneeze or cough in should be disposed of immediately.
  • Stay home if you are showing symptoms – anyone who has the symptoms of the Coronavirus should remain at home and call their doctor to determine their next steps. Local areas often have drive-thru testing facilities that allow for tests to be completed. Quarantining in the house for two weeks is recommended for the sick individual as well as those who live with him or her.
  • Eat well to maintain good overall health – if you get a virus, it is important to have a strong and healthy body to fight conditions such as COVID-19. Patients should eat lots of fruits and vegetables and should avoid sugary, fatty, or salty foods. Feeding the body with the right foods and beverages can help is stay healthy during a time like this, when fighting off surrounding viruses is key to staying clear of the Coronavirus.
